The Biannual Clothes Clean-Out

Ok, it's more like the every-18-months clothes clean out. As Cole grew, I started out organized and ended up just throwing clothes in bins. Before Dean was born, I went through all of them and reorganized by size, type, etc., got rid of clothes with lots of stains, all that. So now, it's time to do that again. I dumped everything out...

... that wasn't currently in someone's drawers and am now taking a break from organizing. It's tiring, but it's more emotional than I realized. First, EVERY time I forget just how little the newborn clothes are! How does a little human hiney fit in these things?!?! Holy smokes. And then there's going through the Dean preemie clothes - how tiny he really was when he was born. Clothes that worked for Cole but didn't work for Dean because the G-tube got in the way. Clothes that he wore for surgeries or in the NICU and bring back weird memories. Clothes I remember him wearing from times that he had a milestone breakthrough. A nursing cover that I never got to use with Dean because he couldn't nurse. A pair of Hip Helpers that don't fit anymore - do I get rid of them? I mean, I'm hoping that Emmett is ok and that he won't need Hip Helpers, but it almost feels superstitious to get rid of them. It's weird. I didn't expect a mundane task to be so... complicated. But I'm excited to have one more little boy to dress in all these clothes. :) And then I'll be excited to get rid of all of them. lol

In other news, I have a face again. :) This morning...

This evening...

My mood changed immediately once it didn't feel like there was acid on my face anymore. Strange, huh? (eye roll) I changed my soap to Dove ONLY (I use it in the shower, but now it's for hand soap and everything), Whole Foods fragrance-free shampoo and conditioner (which is awful, but it doesn't make me break out!), Tom's toothpaste (my derm friend told me that fluoride aggravates the contact dermatitis I had, so bye-bye fluoride toothpaste for now), and I'm staying away from all scented cleaners and such. The rash isn't gone, but almost. The trick is now getting it to STAY away.

If you feel the need to organize any more, I'll generously let you come to our house! :) Going through clothes is one of those things I put off & putt off, but then when it finally gets done I feel so much better about it!

Glad to see the rash is doing much better too!
