Sasquatch Sighting in Shenk Yard!

I saw Sasquatch this evening in our front yard. Look!

Wait... a second. It's just Bob. :)

Bob was hacking down a giant hedge in our front lawn tonight in preparation for someone digging up the flagpole tomorrow. I put an ad on Craigslist titled, "Want a flagpole?" in the free section because, well, someone wants just about anything. There is no string on the pole and the hedge is right smack in the middle of what could be a great front-yard wiffleball field. So adios hedge, and adios flagpole!

In other domestic endeavors, tonight I assembled a new train table for the boys! Here is the table assembled, but without all the accessories arranged:

And the pile of junk that was an absurd amount of packaging:

Buying a train table is usually something we'd reserve for a big holiday, but I'm just so excited that we finally have the space for a toy like this. Also, we're trying to find more toys where Dean can stand at them and continue to build strength in his legs. We realized that many of our toys are meant for playing on the ground because they don't take up much space and therefore can be easily stored. Great for apartment living. But it's time to graduate in toy world. Once the table is all set up, it should look something like this:

And my son and daughter will smile just like that, too. Wait a second....

"Some assembly required." Understatement of the year. The instructions left many steps to be inferred, which meant there was a bit of trial-and-error built in. And there was one step where it specifically stated that piece K had to be put THIS way, and not THIS way, or else when you got to step 5, the pieces wouldn't line up. I was so concerned with doing it the right way that I focused on the wrong picture and put it in incorrectly. Pieceajunk! (This is what I say out loud when I'm frustrated at an inanimate object) But you know how that happens sometimes? You're so focused on not doing the wrong thing that you end up doing it? Gah.

Can't wait until the boys wake up tomorrow and see their new surprise. :)
