Combo Appointment

Yesterday, we met our new pediatrician here in town, Dr. Peter Blakey, for a combo Cole-4-year/Emmett-6-month appointment. It was good. Since having Dean, the concept of a well-check is just odd because we're primarily at the doctor for something not-so-well. I mean, Dean's been a healthy kid, but PWS is full of many "bonus features" that need follow-up.

Anyway, here are the relevant stats:
Cole - 38.5" tall (10th percentile) and 33 lbs. (between 10th and 25th percentile)
Emmett - 26.5" tall (50th percentile) and 17 lbs. 13 oz. (50th percentile)

I have to chuckle at how low on the percentiles Cole is, but really, we're not surprised. He's not destined to be a giant, and as long as he's growing, that's what counts. Emmett is falling into place at the 50th percentiles, where all 3 boys have spent a lot of time.

Dean, although he did not have a check-up yesterday, we know is closer to the 75th percentile for height and weight; however, you can see his ribs. Same with Cole. The percentiles don't seem to hold the same way for Dean, at least for now. People very often ask if C&D are twins, which Cole has been saying is "annoying." I don't blame him. :) Or if anything, they often think that Dean is older! So Cole is really invested now in proving that he is big. And strong. And tall. We walk the line between telling him that he is big and telling him that for his age, he's a little small, but he sure is fast. And smart. And many other things that don't depend on size. I figure as long as we support and love him where he is, that's the most we can do. :)

Emmett's just trucking along like a regular baby. He's so "typical" that sometimes it's almost eerie. He's still not sleeping through the night most nights (we would like for that to be more consistent very, very soon), but he's hitting his milestones pretty much effortlessly. It's such a miracle this time around. We enjoy it.

Love these kids. <3
