Brain Surgery for Obesity

It sounds extreme, but then again, morbid obesity is pretty extreme, too. There have been deep brain stimulation surgeries done before, and successfully, for conditions like Tourette's syndrome. Now there is a possibility for DBS to overcome morbid obesity.

Of course, I'm thinking about this for PWS. Since the portion of the 15th chromosome that is missing/inactive in PWS (depending on the subtype) regulates the hypothalamus - which unfortunately regulates a LOT of processes in the body - it makes sense to my untrained brain that going into the brain and reprogramming that part could hold promise.

I don't even know if it's a possibility in the near future, but we're praying that this scientific advancement, along with many others in the works, will be part of the cure for Dean and others with PWS.
