Teaching Your Child to Talk with Kids with Special Needs

I just read this article from a friend's Facebook page (thanks, Liz!) and it is so right on. It's about how to teach your children (and you!) how to interact with kids with special needs. The overall message, which is so true, is just to treat them like everyone else! Say hello, ask them questions, realize that they probably understand you... basically, do what you'd do with any other kid. This is part of what I was getting at in the post about talking to a child who is nonverbal.

Apply lesson liberally, lather, rinse, repeat.
