Apple Picking

Yesterday, we went apple picking back in Charlottesville at Carter Mountain Orchard. We went in the afternoon following a busy morning and it was fun to drive back to our old stomping grounds (we used to live about 5 minutes from the mountain). I have always enjoyed apple picking as a rite of passage for the fall and we want the kids to enjoy it, too. I wasn't quite sure how PWS would play into the outing, as Dean does love apples and gets crazy about finishing them (he'll eat it all the way through the core!), but everything... for now... was fine.

We quickly got to work picking Jonagold apples, which are so tasty. The boys had a great time and braved the crowds well (before falling apart as we were leaving :)). The pictures tell the rest of the story! :)

Before ending this post, I want to pay just a word of tribute to our amazing pastor, Bob Ratchford. After a long fight with a complex health situation, Bob passed early this evening at the age of 63. He was an amazing, godly man who was loving and yet challenged us all to live a more holy life. He has an amazing family and we are praying for them. Please join us in those prayers.

Looks like everyone had fun! We live in apple country and love going to the orchards too.

I'm sorry about your pastor!
