Living Room Makeover

One room that has gradually evolved is the living room. It started out like this:

We painted it a cool grey and it made a world of difference. I love how calm the room feels as a result. I love the big picture window and the view of the front yard.

You can see above the old couches that have followed us through... I think 7 moves. They were past their prime and yet never seemed to work with the slipcovers that we bought for them. Put them for free on Craigslist and BAM... almost immediately, they had a new home.

We got a new rug on Overstock.com, and we also got this:

Combine that with these sweet octagonal side tables from Target that I then painted red:

Some chairs that my parents got for us (also from Target... and admittedly they look WAY better in person than on the website):

We also got a new desk, some cute linen filing boxes, an arc lamp, and other little accessories. I'm quite pleased with the finished product! Beautiful painting over the sectional is by artist Jane Park Wells.
Thanks for looking! Do you have a space in your place that has evolved slowly over time to the point of being "just right?" Do tell!
