OSS, One Week Later

As promised, here are more pictures from our One SMALL Step for Prader-Willi Syndrome walk last weekend:

Getting everyone together before we walked

Giving an update on our fundraising and giving instructions to the crowd!

Bidon pushing a sleepy Dean in the stroller (he did walk quite a bit, but then that was it!)

Charlotte enjoying the playground at the park! This is a big part of what made Dorey Park an ideal location for the walk: playground, tables, shade, great place to walk, and bathrooms! :)

Me with 3 members of the K. family, who came from Charlottesville to walk for their niece with PWS.

What I didn't quite expect from that day is how wiped out I would be afterwards. The next few days, I could have used a vacation just in how physically and emotionally spent I was from organizing that whole thing. I'm so glad that I had help (Jill, Sabra, Mom, Dad, David, Gretchen, and Lori!) because otherwise, this just would not have happened.

If you have a chance to participate in OSS or another fundraising walk, I highly recommend it. As far as our society has advanced, there are certain things we still do not have control over. PWS is something that we have very little control over, and so our hope lies in what God will do through scientists in research about the syndrome. If we can't cure it (yet!), we will do what we can to work to that end. It is incredibly empowering to come together as a community and remember why we're there in the first place. Great day. :)

I love the picture of the K. family. They are the best family a Claire could have. Thank you for organizing the walk, Allie!
